M.I.A. + Summer Colds
I have been sick for the last week and a half and haven’t gotten around to doing much workout (or blog!!) wise. My apoligies. It’s the kind of sick that sits in your chest/lungs causing you to hack up a lung with any small amount of activity. It really is the worst, and is so uncomfortable. Sickness in summer - why?
I think it’s finally starting to pass (thankfully) so I’m...
Kids as Young as Five Treated for Anorexia →
This article in the Globe and Mail represents the sad state of our society - where children feel the need to look a certain way because that is what society tells us is “beautiful”.
This sickens me to the core, and it needs to change.

Soccer
Last night I had a soccer game, and only 10 of our players showed up meaning we were shorthanded. In addition, it was about a bazillion degrees out, and I was playing midfield, so I ran and sweat like crazy. Seriously, there was sweat dripping off of me Niagara Falls style.
We ended up loosing 1-0 but the effort we put in was exceptional. We played extremely well - probably the best we have...
10k Registration Complete
I have registered for the Toronto Zoo 10k (yes, I get to run around a zoo!). I am running this race with this beautiful lady, and have convinced my younger brother to run the 5k race.
I find that it motivates me even more knowing I have other people running with me, counting on me to get my butt into excellent running shape.
I’m hoping to pull off a sub-50 minute 10k at this race,...

Weekend
I had a fantastic weekend filled with friends, family, Harry Potter (!!!) and a ton of delicious food (and by delicious I mean chips, dips, burgers, cupcakes, cake pops, beer, wine, chocolate). I definitely indulged this weekend, but I honestly didn’t care. I did so moderately - I didn’t go crazy and eat everything in sight, and I made (some) healthy decisions, but I refused to worry about what I...
Friday Night
I’m having a very nice relaxing evening. I put the little guy to bed around 9, and since then have been:
baking (birthday cake pops for a BBQ I am attending tomorrow)
drinking a glass of red wine (Naked Grape, nom nom nom)
creating a Google+ profile (do you have it? I want to add you!!)

Exam = Passed
Remember that hideous exam I had to write a couple weeks back? I received notification from the head of the examination committee that I PASSED. What a huge relief.
For those of you that don’t know, I am working towards attaining my PhD and have officially completed 2/3 of the components:
1. Coursework (all but 1 course complete) 2. 2 comprehensive exams (Medical Sociology/Health and...
Exhausted
My son was up pretty much all night last night, leaving me completely and utterly exhausted this morning (thank goodness for coffee!). Regardless of the fact that all I want to do is curl up in bed and sleep for a bazillion hours, I WILL make today a good day.
On the (workout) agenda for today:
-Ab workout -Leg workout -Short run (4k)
I also have a meeting with my PhD supervisor at 4:30pm, and...
Killer Ab Workout
I just finished a 20 minute killer ab workout and my abs are already burning. This is a good sign. It’s been about a week since I’ve fit in a solid ab workout, and it felt so good. I am getting a little bored of my ab routines, and try to switch them up as much as I can, but do have my go-to moves that I make sure to incorporate into each workout which include:
Russian Twists (with...

Anniversary
My anniversary (3 years!) is on August 16th and my husband and I are looking in to trips. The first year we went to Chicago, last year we went to Las Vegas (tho a couple weeks late), and this year we are contemplating either:
Myrtle Beach OR Fort Lauderdale
We’re going to rent a 2+ bedroom condo or a house. Since we have the little guy, being in a hotel just isn’t sufficient.

Next Week
I’m working on my workout schedule for next week, which includes:

- 2 upper body workouts
I’m excited to be back in full swing starting next week.
Also, in other news, I’m reading Paleo for Runners, and am really intrigued. I’m thinking starting...
Hair Did + Soccer
I got my hair done last Saturday and had the hairstylist cut me some bangs.
I’m still not 100% sure how I feel about them. Today I like them, but some days - when it’s super windy out and they blow themselves into a huge puff-mess - not so much. Thank goodness for bobby pins on those days.
It’s amazing how something as simple as treating yourself to a new hair-do can change...
Low-fat, Low-cal Whole Wheat Banana Bread

Back & Running
The last few weeks have been insane with preparations for my comprehensive exam which I wrote last week. I feel such relief that it is over. In addition, my in-laws were in town this past weekend, so I took the weekend off to relax and just enjoy their company. My husband and I were able to take an afternoon off of baby duty and headed out to lunch and a movie. It was great to have some one on one...

I am alive and well, but am studying for my second comprehensive exam and haven’t had much time to keep up with the blogging world.
My workouts have also taken a back seat to studying (apart from walks with my son in the stroller and soccer games (plus a tourney this weekend)) so I definitely cannot wait to have this exam over with so I can start the new 10k training program I have, and...
Protein
When I was loosing weight, I did not focus on my protein intake (except for getting at least the daily requirement as outlined by myfitnesspal.com). I focussed more on calories, carbs and fats.
Since I have surpassed my ultimate goal weight, and would not mind even gaining a few pounds of muscle, I have upped my protein intake to at least 105 grams per day (that is 1g per lb of body weight)....

I haven't run for a while cause I was busy with uni but thank goodness I stumbled on your blog, made me want to run! I should get back running and not on the treadmill too.
